10-12-05 The Local held its 2005 Membership Meeting 10/7 - 10/8 in San Antonio, Texas. Some highlights:

  • 26 Officers, Area Reps., Trustees, and Grievance Committee Members were in attendance.
  • President, Paul Colavecchio, addressed the current issues affecting the Local, especially the current travails of the auto industry, including the Delphi bankruptcy and its potential effects on the Local.
  • Treasurer, Steve Beres, reported that the Local's finances are in good condition.
  • Grievance Chairman, Roger White, discussed current grievances, particularly expense reimbursement complaints.
  • Council 66 Rep., Peter Nickles, provided grievance drafting instruction.
  • Webmaster, John Suda, noted that the website will soon have to be rebuilt to bring the site into compliance with generation 3 web protocols. A projector-assisted demonstration of the current website was made.
  • The Executive Board proposed Charleston, S.C., Philadelphia, Nashville, and New York City as potential 2006 meeting locales.

The Executive Board strongly recommends that any members who have outstanding expense reimbursement requests submit claims to the Plan promptly. A growing number of complaints, including at least 2 grievances, are pending regarding new Plan reimbursement policies. Direct any questions to President, Paul Colavecchio, or Grievance Chairman, Roger White.
